GIRLS ON TWITCH
Being a gamer myself, it was only natural for me to approach my fellow gaming community for their input on female gamers as a whole. Fortunately, I had people of varying age groups offer to give me their say on Twitch girls. I found it particularly interesting to see points of views differ from one another based on how their gaming backgrounds either allowed/did not allow, or affected their responses. Of the people I interviewed, some are casual gamers, others are long-time gamers, and one is an individual who works at Riot Games, the company responsible for making the number-one played multiplayer game in the world: League of Legends. Based on these varied backgrounds, I was able to conduct a series of interviews that put them in the spotlight in terms of what they thought about females on Twitch, negative or not.

“It's pretty shocking to me, but if they're not really hurting anyone, then I guess it's fine. It's all an act, anyway. I think they're different when they're not in front of a camera all day."

“I know a lot of people think it’s disappointing, but girl streamers are actually pretty entertaining to watch just because most of them suck at whatever game they’re streaming live, but they rage and usually the chat goes crazy. It's pretty hilarious. I don't think many people take them seriously...if they did want serious gaming, they'd probably tune into a guy's stream or LCS or something."

“The girls involved in it probably know exactly what they’re doing, and probably have to expect it when first starting out as a streamer.”
