Based on my personal observations of various streams on Twitch, I've created two digital portaits that visually manifest the "formula" as to how each gender can make it big as a streamer. Of course, some of these speculations are somewhat exaggerated, but they are represented in that way in order to highlight the associations that are linked to both females and males on Twitch. After tuning into Twitch streams of popular female streamers like KaceyTron, KittyPlaysGames, LegendaryLea, Neekems, ItsHafu, and more. The male portrait is based on popular male streamers like Dyrus, Bjergsen, Syndicate, Summit1g, PhantomL0rd, etc. Though the portraits mainly encompass the physical attributes that come along with a famous streamer of either gender, I have also included an overview that synthesizes more than appearances. Behavioral patterns, computer set-ups, dynamics of the individual's Twitch chat, and more make up a streamer. Scroll down to learn more!

GUYS ON TWITCH

There are few, and also optional, physical features one should have to be a famous male streamer on Twitch. Of course, it helps to have a decent face, but certain male streamers like HiImGosu has been streaming for years even without a webcam. He garners thousands of viewers, and makes a living off of his professional gaming career as well as his streams on Twitch. So consequently, your face isn't even needed. The only real thing you need to make it in the Twitch world as a guy is a goofy, likeable personality. You need to be clumsy, entertaining, and attentive to the chat.

If you're not a goofball, then it also helps to have another route to be famous as a guy on Twitch. Males seem to have it a little easier because if they don't really have a dynamic personality that outshines others', they can even be famous for being reserved, unemotional, and aloof. A perfect example of this is Marcus Hill, better known as "Dyrus" online. He's known for his cool personality, rare smiles, and quietness in and out of stream sessions. But what makes him special is just that. It also helps that he's a professional gamer that was formerly part of the team, Team Solo Mid (TSM). So in conclusion, there's two routes you can take as a guy: be funny, or be extremely great at the game and be appreciated for your skills. A combination of both is a great plus, but nowhere is the trend saying that you need to be attractive physically to make serious bank in the Twitch world.

GIRLS ON TWITCH

And now, the other side of the coin...girls on Twitch. This issue's seemingly a lot more complicated than the flip side of the coin. As the portrait on the left suggests, there is a significant difference in how a woman needs to act or what they need to look like in order to be successful on Twitch as a streamer. For whatever reason, females seem to have a much harder time when it comes to being confronted with a more specific set of expectations to adhere to. Not only do the majority of female streamers seem to need to have great personalities, they need to have a great body to perform on camera (webcams are a must.)

Females on Twitch, regardless of whether or not they are famous, are often encouraged to flash their viewers, often coerced by the negative community that bombards their Twitch chat-rooms. Certain internet, Twitch personalities like KaceyTron, are perfectly aware of the complex relationship women are forced to have with their Twitch streams. Whether they like it or not, women who have their cameras set to a larger resolution, focusing on their bust area, entire bodies, or any other physical attribute they have to flaunt, get more views. At times, the camera overpowers the screen of the actual gameplay. Whether this is legitimate game-streaming or not, is up for debate; however, there do exist few streamers such as ItsHafu, who are applauded and acclaimed for their professional-level gaming skills, regardless of her gender. In conclusion, the formula for a perfect girl gamer with top views includes a killer body, a great webcam with sharp resolution, and occasional camgirl-esque performances. Serious gameplay optional.
